During the Roman Republic Period, the TRIARII were soldiers who formed the third and final line of infantry of the Roman Legion Army Unit. They were the most experienced men in the army and carried the best equipment. If the prior lines of infantry did not succeed, they would retire behind the TRIARII, who would then engage the enemy in turn – hence the proverb “It has come to the TRIARII”, signaling a situation of serious crisis. The TRIARII were the elite forces, designed to act on critical and decisive moments.

Fast-forward over 2,000 years. TRIARII is a Business Transformation Services firm specialized in helping clients significantly improve their financial performance. We strongly believe that above-average returns are never an accident; they are the result of industry knowledge, a clear understanding of what drives value, intelligent planning, and rigorous operational execution.

Our solutions are inter-connected in an effective and simple manner. We call it “The TRIARII Value Creation Framework”, and it is divided into seven Business Units:

(1) BUSINESS DIAGNOSTICS: we identify the causes of a problem and determine its most appropriate remedy, including a detailed performance improvement plan

Throughout any business diagnostic engagement, several problems are presented to us. At TRIARII, we put a lot of effort into determining whether we were given the right problem to look at. We dig deep by asking the right questions and gathering facts. But facts alone are not enough; we approach problems in a rigidly structured manner, a process that if followed correctly, will get us to a much faster and effective resolution. To accelerate our problem-solving journey, we make frequent use of proven management frameworks. By the end of our study, we will have formulated a problem diagnosis and identified the initiatives required to solve it. We then break down these initiatives into detailed action plans, so we know exactly what needs to be done, how, who will do it, and by when it needs to be completed.

(2) PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: we help our clients address their most critical business problems and opportunities

(3) BUSINESS RESTRUCTURING AND TURNAROUND: we take over an insolvent business, stabilise it, and get it back on track.

We are specialised in financially distressed companies, a condition in which a company cannot meet, or has difficulty paying off, its financial obligations to its creditors. We believe that a successful turnaround is one in which a previously distressed company is now able to meet its debt obligations and make investments in growth-related projects. Through a variety of successfully proven approaches, we nurse our clients back to financial stability, creating conditions to unlock their growth potential. In instances in which our clients are excessively leveraged, we may resort to Brazil’s business recovery protection code: Law 11.101 of 2005 – Judicial and Extrajudicial Recovery and Bankruptcy Law.

(4) PPP-PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS AND GOVERNMENT CONCESSIONS: we design and prepare economic-financial models of long-term partnership projects between public and private entities

The Law 11.079/2004 set the general rules for (a) public bidding and (b) the contracting of public-private partnerships within the scope of the public administration. Since the law was enacted, it has been widely used by Municipalities, State Government, and the Federal Government for the implementation of public infrastructure projects. At TRIARII, we believe that both the private sector’s innovation capabilities and execution skills will continue to encourage the Brazilian Government to contract these types of partnerships, as an effective vehicle for transforming and improving the lives of Brazilians. Through this Business Unit, we help both our government and private clients with the modelling of complex financial studies, essential to the decision-making process during the lifecycle of these contracts.
